I've got to say that John Barbier's book has made my fishing trips to the Eastern Sierra not only more fun, but the most productive I've ever had. I carry his book in my creel whenever I make the short trip to the Sierras. This guide is so simple that my 10 year old brother can read and understand it. It plainly goes through Each lake and stream and tells you what type of fish are present there, what will work best to catch these fish, and what won't. You know that you're getting great advice from John because he has personally fished every water in the book many times over the decades that he has been coming to the Sierras. He rates each lake and stream on the fishing productivity as well as the scenery and tells you how to get to each spot. The book is so enjoyable to read because John seems to have such a positive and cheery attitude about everything. Do you want to catch the coveted golden trout for the first time, but don't want to take the strenuous hikes to reach them? John details the easiest golden trout waters to get to. Some of them only an easy 15 minute walk! I believe that anyone who has fished the Eastern Sierras before and is looking for new places to fish, as well as those who've never fished this awesome place should definitely buy this book! It really is the best piece of "fishing equipment" that I have ever picked up. I look forward to the day when I see John Barbier in the Sierra high country to thank him for writing this phenomenal book. Keep Reelin'!

This book is especially helpful to the novice and intermediate fly-fisherman who, perhaps unfamiliar with the "Sierra Sweet Spots", are forced to fish the average, run-of-the-mill, lakes and streams that are so often OVER-FISHED by bait and lure fisherman. Never condescending or overly-technical and always with a skip in his step, Barbier introduces us to the beautiful, pristine world of the high Sierra trout. Unselfishly, he shares his most special fishing holes. We too can learn to experience the art of a perfect backcast loop or the thrill of an acrobatic 'bow who took to the size 16 black gnat in the blink of an eye (just like he said it might). There is a magic to writing, when the author has a great affection for their subject. This is such a book, it is an absolute gem. Nancy Lindemeyer's stories of her growing up, and the people who populated her life are a delight to read. This is a book you will pull off your shelf and read over and over again.

Nancy Lindemeyer has written a beautiful tribute to the people and memories that she has "packed" for her life's journey. Her sweet remembrances of her grandmother are especially touching. This book is about cherishing what is truly important in life and making connections with people. The author's memories provided her the base, the strength, to accomplish her dreams in life. Lots of people have these strengths to draw on -- Lindemeyer reminds us to actually do so.

I like pictorial histories, and this one certainly satisfies me to the fullest. The author has lectured, led tours, and is a definite "expert" on her topics. She has a magnetic personality and keeps her audience enthralled! I have seen her in action and want to buy everything she writes. Some writers have the knack of "putting people under her spell"..... I am there, and it is worth it!

I know the city of Bridgeport. And Mr. Grimaldi's history is written clearly and concisely but NOT academically. It gives the reader the ability to learn about our city without having to wade through pages of footnotes and other distractions.

Rather, the book is thorough and comprehensive but written in a very anecdotal and engaging style. It has wonderful pictures and exceptional and attractive cover art. "Only In Bridgeport" would make a wonderful gift for anyone interested in the city.

Lastly, I would recommend it as reading for anyone interested in urban America. It encompasses a city's inception, heyday, lowlites and recovery. I am sure Bridgeport's history can be applied to any other city in America.

loved the book but canot find the first edition of this book .please help me locate it in any form.

I love this cover it is the best I got one for my brother, sister, mom, dad and grandparents they loved it they all said they where going to get some for all their friends if they could get some because these things sell out quickly
